International tourist arrivals grew 5% in January-September 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, with over 1.1 billion overnight visitors traveling internationally, according to UN Tourism.

This represents about 50 million more travelers than the same period in 2024 and 3% above pre-pandemic year 2019 levels.

Key findings from the UN Tourism report:

  • Africa and the Middle East showed the strongest growth
  • Europe remained the most visited region
  • Asia-Pacific continued its recovery trajectory
  • The Americas showed steady growth

UN Tourism forecasts 3-5% global growth in international tourist arrivals for the full year 2025, though elevated travel costs and geopolitical risks may influence traveler decisions.
